Penny Black Media
Penny Black Media is UK-based company, dedicated to acquiring quality independent feature films primarily for distribution to the airline marketplace. Their name comes from the first stamp that allowed pre-payment of postage in the UK. The innovation led to a more widespread use of the postage system and led to the tradition of public postage we have today.

They came to me with a list of brand attributes, based on their historic name: implied rarity/collectable value, strong icon/image, international renown, British heritage, specialist / knowledge, as a nod to the original communications revolution behind the modern era of electronic communications.

After seeing the original penny black stamp, I decided the iconic and historic nature of the Queen's bust was a perfect balance of quality and rarity. However, I wanted the brand to be flexible, as they required marketing materials that spanned a number of mediums. So I built in a number of brand devices: the bust, the brand type and the quality type.
